Position

This word is used a couple times within the first chapter of Metamorphisis. When Gregor is trying to find a comfortable spot or position to sleep. He also tries to find the right position to help himself get out of bed in the morning. This word to him become much more difficult that it used to be. He's also put in a bad position by not being at the correct train. He's so worried about not being at his train on time and how he could be fired, he doesn't even care that he's a giant bug. Also when his manager comes to his door he isn't able to get out of his room. He's put in many difficult positions as a bug.

Good call-- "position" seems to have a lot of resonance within the first chapter. One more meaning: position also refers to someone's job (as in “his position in the company”). I wonder if Kafka was playing around with that idea as well?

Position is in the story a lot. I agree with the references in there. Gregor is in a position that he can't change from being a bug to being a human again. This was a good blog.
